We will be offering the following Religious Exploration Groups for children and youth on Sundays this year: 

Pre-K to 1st Grade: 9:15-9:45 am (with Ms. Wendy)

2nd Grade to 5th Grade: 11:15 am-12 pm

Middle School Jr. Youth Group: 1-2 pm

High School Sr. Youth Group: 12:30-2 pm on the second Sunday of every month

The ancient Japanese custom of “Forest Bathing” remains remarkably relevant and useful to us today, as we understand more of the science of how the trees can heal us. The more we learn about how much the natural world gives us, the more we are empowered to give back.

Join in UUCL’s annual service for honoring our beloveds who have passed from this Realm. Please have a candle to light during the service and please send Rev. Alice pictures of those you love who have died by October 28th. Practical note–if you are using the candle given in the Ingathering Basket, please have a small container of sand in which to place the candle after lighting…or use your own candle. We will show the pictures and also invite folks to write the names in the chat during the candlelighting part of the service.

Michael Carter Jr. is an 11th generation American/farmer, and is the 5th generation to farm on Carter Farms, his family’s century farm in Orange County, Virginia where he gives workshops on how to grow and market ethnic vegetables. With Virginia State University, he is the Small Farm Resource Center Coordinator for the Small Farm Outreach Program. Virginia Association of Biological Farmers (VABF) and Virginia Foodshed Capital have him sit on their respective boards of directors. He also serves as the state coordinator for the Black Church Food Security Network and as the food safety coordinator for the Six State Farm to Table organization. He acquired an agricultural economics degree from North Carolina A&T State University and has worked in Ghana, Kenya, and Israel as an agronomist and organic agricultural consultant. … Read the rest
