Personal Journey Service

UUCL members share their personal journeys and how they came to find UUCL as a spiritual home.

Summary:

This sermon captures a Unitarian Universalist service centered on the theme of personal spiritual journeys and the search for a meaningful religious community. Two congregants, Nicola Cook and Lisa Gasque Kuhn, share their individual stories of moving from religious uncertainty or family loss toward finding a spiritual home. Their narratives emphasize the importance of exploration, noting how diverse cultural exposure and the death of parents shaped their need for a supportive collective. Both speakers describe the vulnerability of seeking, eventually discovering a sense of belonging and peace within their current congregation. Ultimately, the sermon illustrates how a community’s shared values of justice and compassion can provide a vital landing place for those on a lifelong search for truth.
