The Path of Love and A God Who is Love

There are many Paths to love, and we will explore just a few of those paths in our worship, knowing we cannot possibly explore them all in one service. Join us as we explore and seek your own path along the way. Our message will be one of liberation rooted in the Gospel of 1 John 4:8, “The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

Summary:

In this poignant sermon, Roddy Bell-Shelton Biggs describes a spiritual evolution from a childhood defined by religious trauma and exclusion to a life of inclusive ministry. After being marginalized by a Southern Christian upbringing for being queer and non-binary, Biggs eventually found liberation and acceptance within the Unitarian Universalist faith. The sermon highlights the reconciliation of a Christian identity with modern values, redefining the concept of the divine as a sovereign love rather than a source of fear. By embracing radical inclusion, the speaker illustrates how a community can transform personal despair into a garment of praise. Ultimately, the sermon serves as an invitation for others to explore their own paths of love and find belonging in spaces that celebrate their full humanity.
