Speaker 3:

Each year we invite several members to share their personal journeys to Unitarian Universalism. This year we have the privilege to hear members Ted Bernstein, Leah Cooper, Jason & Cristina Dwyer share their paths to UUCL.

Suammary:

This sermon consists of personal testimonials from members of a Unitarian Universalist congregation, each recounting their individual spiritual journeys and the reasons they joined the church. The speakers describe moving away from restrictive religious backgrounds, such as Catholicism, Judaism, or evangelicalism, in search of a community that embraces progressive values and personal autonomy. Many highlight a desire for an inclusive environment that supports diverse identities, including non-binary youth and those who value the separation of church and state. The narratives emphasize that this specific church serves as a sacred sanctuary for family connection, emotional healing, and the active practice of social justice. Ultimately, the speakers find common ground in a faith that prioritizes human dignity, intellectual freedom, and the shared work of building a compassionate community.
